How do I choose a handwriting style?
Choose from 30 handwriting styles and save your usual choice under Settings → House handwriting. Campaigns and automations use it unless you choose another. The samples use the letterforms the pen draws. Older styles remain supported on saved designs, orders and integrations.

#Find a handwriting you like
The 30 styles are grouped by the way the letters look. Start with Everyday or Print if you want something easy to read. Each style has a name, such as agnes, which you can also pass to the API. Name matching is case-insensitive. All 198 known styles still resolve for older saved work and API calls; the picker presents the smaller selection.
| Group | What it looks like | Hands |
|---|---|---|
| Everyday | Relaxed, familiar handwriting for a personal note. | 8 |
| Clear, separate letters, with fine and bolder styles. | 8 | |
| Flowing | Joined letters and soft loops. | 6 |
| Quick | Loose handwriting with more movement. | 4 |
| Classic | Careful cursive for a more formal card. | 4 |
#Where handwriting is chosen
| Level | Where | Wins over |
|---|---|---|
| Per card | The handwriting field on POST /api/v1/cards | Everything |
| Per campaign | Step 3 of the campaign wizard | The house hand |
| Per automation | The handwriting picker on the rule, under What it sends | The house hand |
| Per hook | The handwriting field in the payload you POST to the hook. There is no handwriting setting on the hook itself — a hook that is sent none writes in the house hand. | The house hand |
| House hand | Settings → House handwriting | The fallback |
#Choosing one
- Legibility beats character. A hand your recipients cannot read is a card they do not read.
- Pick one and keep it. The value of a house hand is consistency over years, not variety.
- Look at a real card. The screen shows the letterforms and layout, but its physical size depends on your device and zoom. Send one to yourself to see the ink on paper.
- Match the sender, not the brand. These are handwriting styles, and handwriting belongs to a person. A tidy, plain hand reads as a competent adult; a flamboyant one reads as a brand asset, which is the opposite of the point.
#Common questions
- How many handwriting styles are there?
- There are 30 styles to choose from. The full library of 198 is retained so earlier orders, saved designs and integrations can keep their original handwriting. The legacy Wildcard category is still recognized by the API.
- Can I supply my own handwriting?
- Not through the self-serve product. Talk to sales if it matters enough to your program to be worth the setup.
- What color is the ink?
- Blue. It is a real ballpoint pen, so it behaves like one.
- Can different senders in my company use different hands?
- Yes. Leave the house hand as Choose each time and set the handwriting on each campaign or rule.
