How do I stop Scribble mailing someone?

Add them to the do-not-mail list under Contacts → Do-not-mail, by email or by address. Everybody on it is checked and skipped immediately before each card is written, on every campaign and every automation. Deleting the contact is not enough — the next import or CRM sync puts them straight back.

  1. Open the list

    Contacts → Do-not-mail.

  2. Choose what to match on

By email matches any imported row carrying that email, whatever address it arrives with. This is the right choice for a person.

By address matches a household. Use it when somebody asks you to stop writing to an address rather than to a person.

  3. Write down why

The reason field is optional and worth filling in. In a year's time it is the only record of whether the request can be reversed, and who took it.

  4. Save

It takes effect on the next card that would have been written.

You’ll know it worked when The entry appears with what it matches on, the reason, the date and who added it.

#Common questions

Does a bounced or complained email address get suppressed automatically?
Bounce handling from Scribble's own transactional email writes back to suppressions, so an address that hard-bounces on our notification email is recorded. Postal returns are not automatic, because an undelivered card does not always come back.
Can I remove somebody from the do-not-mail list?
Yes. That is what the reason field is for: it is the record of whether the request can be reversed.
Is the list shared across companies in my account?
No. It belongs to one organisation, like contacts, credits and designs.
