How do Scribble contact lists work?

A mailing list is a saved group of contacts. Choose Send to this list to prepare a mailing for its current members, or use the list in an automation. A prepared mailing keeps the recipients you added; an automation follows later changes to the list.

  1. Open Mailing lists

Open Mailing lists from Contacts, then choose New list.

  2. Give the list a name

Choose a name you will recognize when sending, such as Staff, Clients or Summer event guests.

  3. Choose the kind

Fixed list is the only kind that is built. It is a set of people you chose, and it changes when you change it.

  4. Add the people

From the contacts table, or as part of an import.

You’ll know it worked when The list shows a member count.

#What lists are good for today

  • Automations follow them. A birthday rule pointed at Staff picks up a new starter the day they land on the list, and the rule's own page shows the new count straight away.
  • Campaigns pull from them. Pick the list on the recipient step and every current member is copied in.
  • Scoping a rule. Different lists with different messages and designs is how you send staff and clients different birthday cards.
  • Seeing overlap. Two rules pointed at two lists that share people will write to those people twice. Visible membership makes that obvious before it happens.
